Joey & Claire – 03.24.12 | Alexandria, Virginia Wedding Photographer

This wedding is so special to me as this family is like family to us! We have known them since we first began attending First Baptist Alexandria and they have come to mean a lot to us! And once Claire came back from college she was our girls favorite babysitter! So, I was beyond honored when Claire called me the night she got engaged and asked if I would do their engagement pictures that very weekend and then their wedding. It’s been so much fun being apart of the wedding planning with them, getting to know Nicole at Belle Haven Country Club, and then being apart of the wedding day in such an intimate way. Normally I am able to just be a fly on the wall but it was very hard for me to separate my personal feelings from this day and cried at all the moments everyone else did! Especially the moment Claire’s dad came in. Tears! And I have so enjoyed getting to know Joey as well! I’ve head about him from the moment they started dating as Enid would share with me the things Claire was up to at Baylor. He’s a super sweet guy! Claire and Enid put a lot of thought into the details of this wedding from the Big Gulp cups (that they aren’t every seen without) for each bridesmaid, to the fun food stations representing every place Joey and Claire have lived, from NY all the way to Texas & Puerto Rico! The food was divine! The Chef at Belle Haven Country Club outdid himself! We even had a WHOLE pig slow roasted, still whole on the table teeth and all!:-)We were also so excited to have early Cherry Blossoms & warm weather this year and although it rained all day & was chilly we were able to get out for a few minutes after the wedding to get a few portraits in Old Town Alexandria before they were completely destroyed. The pink, flower covered streets were beautiful!
I could go on, but I’ll stop here and let you get to the pictures! Enjoy! Claire and Joey, I hope you had a wonderful day, surrounded by your family & friends & that you are now enjoying your honeymoon before you move back to Texas! We’ll miss you and so will my girls!

The ‘R’ Family: Foggy Morning at the Washington, DC Cherry Blossoms

In case you have been living under a rock, you might have noticed that spring came early this year! This also means an early appearance for DC’s much beloved Cherry Blossoms! So, we scrambled and rescheduled this family’s session to accommodate the arrival of these always beautiful trees. This particular morning was incredibly foggy, but this added a different element to the Cherry Blossoms making them almost mysterious and ominous. But, this family was so bright and cherry that the fog only added a fun element to their beautiful family! Nothing makes a session easier than a relaxed mom and dad being a willing participant and they were both! And with kids as cute as theirs they made my job easy. So, thanks R family for making my one and only CB session a great one!

Surprise for Dad! | Alexandria, VA Photographer

This week I got to meet this first time mama for a fun maternity session at the Lorien Hotel in Old Town Alexandria! This was mom’s idea and it was a great one! It is a beautiful, quaint hotel with gorgeous rooms and, my favorite feature, great light! She is also surprising her hubby with these portraits! So dad, I hope you love seeing your beautiful, glowing wife during this amazing time in both of your lives! And mom, tt was delightful to spend the morning with you and I am counting down the days until your little man arrives! Enjoy your little preview!

2 Humans + 2 Dogs = Family

As anyone who has a dog knows, they are so much more than just a pet, they are family! This sweet little family and I had some fun on, ironically, one of the chilliest Saturdays we’ve had this winter even though its almost spring! But, they were troopers and braved the cold winds for a bit. Even the puppies were cold! I rarely get to photograph dogs but love it! Chasing these little guys was about the same as chasing toddlers, but they’re faster!:-)Kept us warm though. So, enjoy meeting some very adorable, cuddly little guys and their parents!

Baby Girl E: 5 months old

After several weeks of maternity leave I am so glad to make my comeback with this session! A few years ago I photographed mom and dad’s wedding and I am so happy to continue to be apart of their family as they grow! Little ‘E’ is such a happy little girl with big sparkly eyes and an even bigger smile! And I just LOVE her chub! Nothing like a chubby baby! She made my job so easy! You are just going to LOVE meeting her! Congrats mom and dad, she’s a doll!
